Digital Painting!

Another thing I haven't done in ages is digital painting!! I've been noodling around on photoshop but I wasn't happy with the results it gave me.  So I started using Corel Painter because I remember using it years back and really loving it.  Lo and behold, I still love it, a lot.  So here is the result of today's digital painting attempt.  I still need a lot of practice but I'm happy with it for now.

I haven't drawn anything with just a good ol' pencil in a long time so I drew this picture yesterday.  I like the body but the head is shaped weird and it doesn't look right.  But yay! Pencil! How fun.

I like this guy I did, the scanner made it look crappy though so I'll have to rescan him for sure when I get a new one.  Used Copics, touched up and added the background in photoshopation station.

Finally! New stuff!

Looong overdue post!  I was busy moving a jillion miles away, give me a break! I've finally had some time to do some arting now so here's some stuff.  The toothy guy and the long cat were done with copics, the broadfaced lady was done in watercolours.

I drew something with my new Copics! I just love them! I already ordered some more! I bought them from PaigeeDraw, I really like her shop because it's in Canada and she has the best prices and great to deal with.

Yay! My new Copic markers arrived today!! I'm so excited! I can't wait to get busy with them....and to buy more :P I can see them becoming a new addiction.  Awesome! Here's a drawing!

Here's one I finished a while ago.  I like it because it's a full page drawing, I rarely do that (I wish I did it more).  I drew it with india ink and coloured it with watercolours. Weeee!

I wish I didn't colour the tentacled one, the marker streaks are horrendous, I should have made a copy because the original line art was better.  I don't like how I coloured the blue one either, maybe I'm just not too keen on colour! haha  Well somethings yes, but quite often B&W is superior.  Colouring is so fun though.  Ahh, I'll definitely have to make copies before I colour things, sometimes I just can't wait though!  Oh well.

I Drew Something

Yay, drew something.  I've been painting more so I've been drawing less which I don't like so I'm going to switch it around.  I can't just yet though because I've just been commissioned to do a painting for someone so I'll have to make that a priority.

Plain Old Sketch-a-roo

Hi hi hi, all I've got for today is some seriously rough sketches.  Today was a "Relax and don't stress about all the stuff you should be doing" days.  It was pretty alright.

So tomorrow, heavy dutes art time supreme.  Probably going to start on an oil painting and maybe continue to work on that colourful acrylic one I posted a couple days ago. 

I'd like to finish that creeper one that I posted with the colourful one but it's scary! I don't like finishing stuff because I feel like I'll ruin it, especially since I'm not terribly skilled with using acrylics.  I just have to force myself to think of it as an exercise and it doesn't matter what it looks like, the point is to finish the painting and have that under my belt as experience and practice. 

I got my odourless paint thinner yesterday evening and I'm amped to start using it, tomorrow I suspect will be its' debut in the use of my "Oil Painting Arsenal".

A-paintin' I was...

Just spent the day working on few paintings, with acrylics, bleh.  So here are some photos of what I've started (from my cell phone so they look extra craperino).  Each are very different styles.

This is my usual style of creation, but it's hard to portray it the way I want with acrylics so I'm going to finish it but then I will make a version of it with oils.  ooh baby!

This one was more of an experimental painting done with acrylics. It just looks bland to me so far so i'll be definitely adding a lot of detail to this to really engage the viewer.  

The day after tomorrow Michaels has its 50% coupon so I'm going to get some of that odorless paint thinner so I can get my oil on!

I wanted to get the thinner yesterday but I only had a 40% off coupon, pff yeah right! I want to hold out for the 50% one which comes out on the 11th, shit yeah!!
I love Michaels coupons, it makes being an artist so much more affordable.  What makes art supply suppliers think artists can come up with the dough to pay the regular prices for this stuff? Get real.

Since I'm broke city all the time the coupons are really a lifesaver, sometimes I find good deals on the web too, so if anyone knows of a great art supply site with awesome prices or anything please leave a comment and let me know!

Slacking...?

I haven't been uploading daily, it's not as easy as I thought it would be.  In a way it is, I was only planning to upload any sort of daily sketch or doodle but I keep thinking it's gotta be more "produced" then that and then I get overwhelmed and chicken out.  Laaaaame.  I have been making art though, I've been painting alot, so maybe I'll upload a photo of what I've been working on.

I've been using acrylics again, which I haven't done in ages because I learned that I don't really like them.  By trying them again it's reminded me that I don't like them.  I loooove using oils but the paint thinner is horribly smelly and I don't have enough ventilation in my place to use it so I haven't used oils in ages but I'm missing them something fierce!  So yesterday I was at Michaels and I saw they have ODORLESS PAINT THINNER! Why did I never see this before?  So that is definitely going to happen and I am most absolutely going to start painting with oils again because they make my guts twirl in a fantastic way.  I'm excited.

Drawing is still my favorite though I think.  I ordered some Copic markers a week ago and I can not wait for them to arrive! I am so amped to use them.  I just started with a 12 pack, halfly because that's all I could afford because they are like a shmillion dollars each, and halfly because I thought it would be good just to start out with a basic set of colours and then add each marker individually after.

Why is the coolest stuff so expensive.  Well it's obvious why but it sucks.
The good thing is that they have them in the Michaels in the town I'm moving to (they don't have them here which is weird because it's a way bigger city), so I'll be able to get them with coupons always. Yay!!  I love deals.

I've been working on this for a little while, this is it so far, I'm pretty sure I'm done the inking part now I just need to colour it when I get home.  Proooobably going to go for watercolours or digital, perhaps both? Who knows.

Ok, so not off to such a great start with the uploading everyday, but I have been drawing everyday! I've just been busy packing and whatnot because I'm going back home tomorrow (I've been in Grande Prairie for a month (sweet)).  So I'll post what I've been working on.

New Blog! First Post!! Wee!

Yay my first post!!  Okay so I like to draw and sketch a lot but I rarely finish anything or actually make legit "pieces", but I like to keep all my little doodles and sketches. 

I figured I should make a "sketch blog" so I have somewhere to toss all my drawerings because I think it'll will help give me motivation to draw more and maybe complete some actual pictures? Maybe? Perhaps? Hopefully. 

Also, then they will be out for the world to see.
Critique of course is very welcome! 

Ok so mostly my drawings are just very random and nearly always just come straight from my head.  I like all sorts of mediums pencil and ink are probably my most used and most favorite.  I also enjoy pencil crayons, watercolour pencil crayons, felt markers, wax crayons, acrylic, watercolour and oil paints.

I've been trying to draw a lot more lately, I wanted to get into the habit of doing it everyday, so my goal is to post at least one new sketch daily.  Sometimes I will post some of my favorite older drawings, yay!

So here we go! Today's sketch!  Little sad guy looks like he wants a cookie...or the earth.  Weee!
